What is Lelapa?

Lelapa is an innovative fintech start-up company that helps impact funds, angel syndicates and development institutions reduce their transaction costs on small-sized investments in Africa. Focused exclusively on small SME deals, Lelapa reduces costs for its clients by combining high-touch SME investment readiness with data-driven due diligence tools. We specialize in equity, mezzanine and blended finance solutions. Lelapa has operations in Nairobi, Kenya and Paris, France.

LelapaFLOW

LelapaFLOW is our tool that reduces the costs of SME deal sourcing, deal-flow management, investment-readiness and due diligence. It combines smart process flows with a proprietary database and selection algorithm, all within a collaborative online tool. LelapaFLOW is sector-specific and designed for investors who cannot be in-market at all times and rely on our permanent field presence. Our clients using LelapaFLOW include Victus Global Capital, FSD Kenya and Saviu Ventures. The sectors most represented in our current pipeline are agribusiness and FMCG.

LelapaFund

LelapaFund is our online investment platform that facilitates the onboarding of African SMEs and global investors. Whether you are a first-time investor, sophisticated private investor or institutional fund, you can submit relevant KYC for accreditation. Accredited investors may then access the SME deals that have reached an advanced stage in LelapaFLOW. Post-transaction, LelapaFund creates a simple dashboard for investors to track the financial and impact metrics of their portfolio companies.

FinTech Advisory

The intersection of FinTech and Alternative Finance is a promising yet complex space. Many public and private organisations have approached us for contributions to national (African) and cross-border regulatory frameworks for equity crowdfunding, including the Capital Markets Authorities of Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, FSD Africa, DFiD, the World Bank and the French Development Agency. We have consulted for FSD Kenya on a tech-enabled blended finance solution for new agricultural value chains.
